The Caribbean diaspora area of New York boasts large populations of expatriates and the countries are thus deeply intertwined on a social, cultural, spiritual, and economic level. This connectivity further stems to the religious affiliations of these people. Many church congregations in these cities with sizable Caribbean immigrant populations feature church-based steelbands as a method to connect their youth with elders, remake traditions, and stay rooted in Caribbean culture for expatriates and their first-generation children. One such congregation is Westchester United Methodist Church (Bronx, New York).
